Job Title: Production Operative
Level: A Grade
Area: Film Coat & Unidirectional
Reports to: Team Leader & Area Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
Working in Film Coat and UD Department, you will be under the direct supervision of a Team Leader and above them, area supervisor.
Producing coated film and / or unidirectional material in line with customer requirements.
The role is all about teamwork as both film coat and UD machines are run as a team with each person carrying out a specific task.
Once trained this will vary as you progress so that you learn the skills to become a fully skilled operator across all equipment in the area.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Your role is to be part of the team running both film coat and unidirectional machines. This will involve the following tasks:
Film Coating (Film Coat 2 & Film Coat 3)
As well as the B grade duties listed below A grade operators must also cover responsibilities in the box directly below

- FC scanner set up
- FC resin weight set up
- FC pull roller outer sleeve replacement
- FC Metering roll speed set up
- FC inputting the batch number
- FC removal of resin streaks
- FC 710 resin film production
- FC labeling safety life of manufactured films
- SAP / QA sample grid entry
- SAP regeneration of labels
- Roll report / inspection
- FC goods inwards in SAP create rolls etc
- FC input OEE data
- FC input batch number – scanner.
Unidirectional (UD 2,4 and 5) – All Lines
- UD pitch fiber set up
- UD setting up the Beta gauge
- UD inputting the batch number
- UD pressure and gap setting
- UD installation of scrim fabric
- UD rotary die cutting QA
- UD installation of fiber
- UD temperature set up
- UD tension set up
- UD drive selection and activation
- UD replacing slitter blades
- UD installation of adhesive interleaves
- UD run sheet / paperwork
- UD inspection / roll reports
- UD pull through to wash off
- UD pre-run wash off
- UD weight check & scanner adjustment
- UD goods issue SAP
- UD sample / grid entry SAP
- UD QA inspector
- UD control panel (all lines)
- UD gap / nip ratio (all lines)
FC temp set up
- FC HMI set up
- FC installation of release paper
- FC poly installation
- FC gap setting
- FC product roll change
- FC cleaning procedure
- FC set up & use of ovens
- FC trough preparation
- FC operation of rubber roller
- FC bag, box and label finished product
- FC checking paper and poly
- HSE Exotherm awareness training module.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- To maintain the highest standard of professional, ethical and safe behavior. Adhering to the company’s Code of Conduct policy
- Maintaining a high standard of health and safety throughout the production environment, to include general housekeeping including 5C standards and safety observations, adhering to the site specific PPE requirements in various production areas
- To provide cover for colleagues, when required.
- Observe and practice site safety and security at all times
- Responsible for the quality of the products within your designated production area (inspection training will be given)
- Working within a team to ensure that the daily production plan is met or exceeded.
- Test operations of machinery including safety circuits periodically
- Set up/changeover machines in line with SMED methodology
- Maintain routine production paperwork as well as digital spreadsheets
REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a person with good time management, self-motivation, numerate and accurate. Good computer skills.
- A working knowledge of working with hazardous goods
- Must be highly organised and disciplined, a team player with good communication skills and be self-motivated.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Good attention to detail
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Able to work to deadlines and changing priorities.
- IT Skills - preferably SAP
- Ability to work collaboratively across all departments
- Be personally motivated and able to work proactively and independently
- Strong commitment to all aspects of safety due to experience in similar environments
- Analytical skills
- A reasonable degree of physical stamina and strength to be able to work in a fast moving production environment
- Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures
- To work the existing shift pattern within Site 4 as driven by current business needs
- The ability to switch between various production departments based on business needs

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOW HOW
Working experience in a manufacturing environment would be advantageous
