The Wimbledon Smokehouse is dedicated to producing high-quality smoked fish using carefully selected fresh ingredients. The company supplies its products to Michelin-starred and high-end restaurants, casual dining outlets, and quality fishmongers. Role Description

The Production Operative is a full-time, on-site role based in London, working within the smoked fish production facility. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Preparing raw fish for smoking
  • Operating and monitoring smoking and production equipment
  • Packaging finished products to the required standards

  • Following production schedules
  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the work area
  • Adhering to food safety and health and safety procedures

The Production Operative also:

  • Supports inventory handling
  • Assists with basic quality checks
  • Collaborates with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient and timely production

Qualifications

  • Ability to support Production Planning and follow scheduled tasks to meet daily and weekly output targets.
  • Strong Communication skills to work effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and other departments.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to Quality Control to maintain product consistency, food safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Capacity to assist with Production Management activities, such as monitoring workflow, reporting issues, and supporting process improvements.
  • Willingness to participate in Training and learn new processes, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
  • Experience in food production, manufacturing, or a similar environment is beneficial.
  • Understanding of basic food safety and health and safety practices, or readiness to be trained.
  • Physical ability to carry out manual tasks, including standing for extended periods and handling products and materials.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a diverse team.
