Piran Composites
Piran Composites is an advanced carbon fibre manufacturing company producing high specification components and structures for aerospace and defence OEMs.
We are seeking a Composite Operative to join our production team and undertake a variety of tasks within our manufacturing environment.
The Role
No previous experience in composites is required, as full training will be provided.
We are looking for someone who is hands-on, practical, and willing to learn. Ideally, you will have some experience using basic hand tools and be comfortable working with your hands and carrying out practical tasks. Previous experience in engineering, manufacturing, assembly, construction, maintenance, or a similar environment would be beneficial, but is not essential.
You will receive training for each task you are expected to perform, with the opportunity to develop your skills and become highly trained in advanced composite manufacturing.
Some examples of the tasks you will be performing include:
- Cutting and kitting carbon fibre raw materials
- Laying up carbon fibre materials into mould tools
- Releasing carbon composite components from moulds
- Cleaning, sealing, and applying release agents to mould tools
- General cleaning and tidying of work areas
- Maintaining and completing relevant paperwork and production documentation
- Assisting various production departments with tasks such as manual lifting and fitting, gluing, machine maintenance, packaging, and documentation
- Following production processes and quality requirements
- Working safely and maintaining a clean and organized working environment

You may be required to work either an early or late shift:
Early shift: 06:00–14:00
Late shift: 14:00–22:00
We also have night shifts available: 22:00–06:00, with a shift uplift of x1.33 per hour
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A practical, hands-on approach to work
- Some experience using hand tools and carrying out practical tasks
- A willingness and ability to learn new skills quickly
- Good communication skills
- The ability to follow instructions and apply knowledge correctly
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Good timekeeping and reliability
- The ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- A good work ethic and a desire to continually improve
- Basic computer skills; experience using Microsoft Office would be an advantage
Previous composite manufacturing experience is not essential. We are more interested in finding someone who is reliable, hardworking, practical, and eager to learn. Full training will be provided.
