The Production Operative will work on the fast-paced potato processing line at our Rushden site, supporting the Produce department to meet strict quality standards and delivery targets. You will operate machinery, monitor product flow, and collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up potato processing equipment according to SOPs.
  • Inspect incoming potatoes for quality and reject non-conforming items.
  • Monitor production line performance and report any deviations.
  • Maintain hygiene and food safety standards throughout the shift.
  • Record production data and complete required documentation.
  • Assist with packaging, labeling, and palletising of finished product.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of machinery.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and report hazards promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet output targets.

  • GCSE level or equivalent, preferably in Maths or Science.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing or a similar production role.
  • Understanding of food safety and HACCP principles.
  • Ability to work on a rotating shift pattern, including weekends.
  • Good manual dexterity and physical stamina for standing and lifting.
  • Basic numeracy and ability to record production data accurately.
  • Team-player attitude with strong communication skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high quality and efficiency standards.
  • Willingness to undergo training and follow SOPs.
  • Valid food hygiene certificate (desirable but not essential).
