About the Role
Are you passionate about protecting the environment and ensuring the safe and reliable operation of critical water assets?
We have a great opportunity to join our Water Supply team as an Operator within our Reservoir Safety Team ensuring we operate safe, compliant assets and deliver excellent water services for our customers.
The successful candidates will carry out operational tasks on our reservoirs and associated assets. This includes routine reservoir surveillance and monitoring, recording levels and surveillance data to support decision making.
You will work closely with the Reservoir Safety Team to carry out scheduled Inspections, this will include medium risk Confined Space entry, manual operation of safety critical valves and making controlled discharges of raw water to the environment which are monitored and regulated.
Another primary objective of the role is to ensure raw water supplies are optimised to ensure reliable supply to our WTW. This will include level and demand monitoring, close liaison with the WTW teams and reactive valve operations.
Duties also include routine process unit cleaning of assets, maintenance tasks, groundwork, minor mechanical maintenance and lubrication.
You will also be required to drive / operate mechanical equipment such as mini diggers, off-road vehicles, quad bikes, chainsaws, etc. (full training will be provided). You are also required to support the team by writing permits to work for low complexity tasks once training is complete.

The work is primarily outdoors, and the successful candidate must be willing to work in all weather conditions. Due to the exposed locations of the reservoirs this can be challenging.
Although mobile, the successful candidates will be based within their Operational area and will also support activities across the other Reservoir safety teams operating group if required.
About You
We are looking for reliable, resilient, and organised team players who is adaptable to meet a varied workload and someone who is also comfortable working alone and outdoors with minimal supervision.
Communication is essential in this role therefore we seek people who are excellent communicators, both verbally and written. You must be able to use the electronic systems and apps that we use to record work, while interrogating information through use of systems such as SCADA. You will be a good problem-solver allowing you to respond quickly to issues, understand the problem, and identify the best solution.

You may have experience operating production processes including various mechanical and electrical equipment. This may include experience of valve operations, using instrumentation to collect data, validate and calibrate a process is desirable but not essential.

If you are hardworking, practical, pragmatic and enjoy hands-on problem solving then this could be a great role for you. Please note a full driving licence is essential.
We will provide full training to support the technical aspects of reservoir operations, so prior direct reservoir/operational field experience is desirable, but not essential.
Please note this role will require a DBS to be completed prior to employment.
This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.
Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked.
