Shift Production Operator - Chemical Manufacturing
Low Moor, Bradford, West Yorkshire
This role operates over rotating days and nights including weekends and bank holidays – full details of the shift pattern will be provided prior to interview.

The Role
We are looking for a Production Operator to play a key role in the safe, reliable and efficient operation of a hazardous chemical manufacturing plant. This is a hands-on role at the heart of production, where safety, quality and teamwork are critical to success.

As a Production Operator you will monitor and control plant processes to ensure safe operation, consistent product quality and compliance with all safety, health and environmental standards. You’ll operate both in the field and via control systems, responding proactively to process changes and plant conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor and control chemical plant equipment including pumps, valves, reactors, tanks and distillation systems
- Start up, shut down and adjust processes in line with SOPs and safety procedures
- Maintain high standards of safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping
- Act as a Competent Person for issuing General Permits in your area
- Respond to spills, equipment issues and unsafe conditions
- Support emergency response procedures and participate in drills
- Carry out routine inspections, sampling and quality checks
- Communicate effectively during shift handovers and work closely with operations, maintenance and engineering teams
What You’ll Bring
- GCSEs (Grade 5 or above) in English, Math’s and Science (or equivalent)
- Process or Engineering Apprenticeship preferred
- Experience in a chemical, petrochemical or industrial manufacturing environment advantageous
- Understanding of hazardous materials and process safety management (PSM)
- Ability to read P&IDs, operating procedures and safety data sheets (SDS)
- Strong teamwork, communication and safety-first mindset
