BASF Pharma Callanish Ltd based on the Isle of Lewis, in the Western Isles of Scotland, is a global leader manufacturing highly-concnetrated omega-3 fatty acids, for pharmaceutical, clinical nutrition and general nutrition applications.

Role Overview

As Production Operator you will be responsible for the manufacture of product through the operation of plant equipment in line with Company Standard Operating Procedures and safe systems of work.

What You Can Expect

  • To comply with BASF Responsible Care Management System and UK EHS legislation at all times
  • Monitoring of SCADA control system, interpreting process data and making appropriate adjustments
  • Carrying out refining and product drumming operations and tank filling operations when required
  • Following cGMP, operate and document the progress of the production manufacturing and testing operations
  • Improve and sustain plant standards, including documentation using lean principles. Following defined procedures and check lists to ensure the plant remains clean, tidy and safe

Production runs 24/7 and we have 5 shift teams operating with the following pattern; 2 x 12.5 h days followed by 2 x 12.5 h nights and then 4 days off. This is repeated 3 times, followed by 10 days off.

What You Offer

  • Ideally SVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification/experience within a manufacturing, Engineering or Process Technology Environment
  • FLT license is desirable
  • Knowledge of cGMP requirements, Permit to Work & risk assessments is desirable
  • Comfortable with Microsoft office, Windows and adapting to new software.
  • Ability to work on your own and within a team with strong problem-solving skills
