Production Planner

Department: Production Planning
Employment Type: Permanent
Location: Windlesham
Reporting To: Giancarlo Mortellaro

Description

We are looking for a Production Planner to play a key role in controlling and coordinating the detailed production schedule and build sequence at Gordon Murray Automotive. Working within the framework set by the Production Planning & Change Control Manager, you will ensure day-to-day builds are achievable, well-coordinated and communicated effectively.

As a key link between Production, Material Planning and management, you will monitor build progress, manage changes and respond quickly to disruption. Your analytical approach, attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure will help maintain a stable and effective production plan.

The Role

You will be responsible for maintaining the detailed production schedule and build sequence, ensuring shop orders and build instructions are released accurately and on time. You will monitor performance against plan, identify risks and re-sequence production when required to maintain manufacturing flow.

This is your chance to:

  • Maintain the detailed production build sequence and release shop orders/build instructions.
  • Confirm build readiness based on parts availability, capacity and labour.
  • Monitor build progress against plan and re-sequence promptly when disruption occurs.
  • Work closely with Material Planners to confirm parts availability ahead of each build slot.
  • Communicate the plan, changes and risks clearly to Production, Material Planning and management.
  • Log build-to-plan misses, capturing reasons and supporting root-cause resolution.
  • Maintain accurate planning data within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Present 24–72 hour build risks at the daily tier review.
  • Monitor schedule adherence, Plan vs Actual and plan stability, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure scheduled builds are completed on time through proactive planning and communication.
  • Work collaboratively across functions to resolve planning issues quickly.
  • Contribute to a culture of accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
