A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Production Planner / Expeditor, you will be at the heart of our manufacturing operation, helping ensure components and work orders move through production in line with customer delivery requirements.
This is a highly visible, shop floor-based role. You will work closely with Production Managers, Cell Leads and operators, alongside Purchasing, Stores, Engineering, Quality and Order Management. You will monitor production progress, identify bottlenecks and material shortages, and take action to keep priority orders moving.
You will combine production planning with hands-on expediting, giving the wider business clear visibility of progress while helping Manufacturing achieve its delivery commitments.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Support daily and weekly production planning in line with customer demand and business priorities, tracking manufacturing work orders and adjusting plans as requirements change.
- Maintain a strong shop floor presence, actively monitoring production orders, conducting regular status reviews and working directly with Production Managers, Cell Leads and operators to keep work progressing.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, constraints and delays, expediting urgent or high-priority orders and escalating risks to customer delivery when necessary.
- Coordinate material, tooling, labour and machine requirements, working with Purchasing and Stores to manage shortages, inventory availability and supplier delivery requirements.
- Work closely with Engineering and Quality to resolve drawing revisions, technical queries, concessions, priority inspections and non-conformances that could affect production.
- Monitor production and delivery performance, including On-Time Delivery, schedule adherence, manufacturing lead times, Work in Progress and overdue orders, maintaining accurate ERP/MRP data and supporting continuous improvement.

What You Bring
- Previous experience in production planning, expediting, scheduling or manufacturing coordination within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of shop floor manufacturing processes and the ability to confidently work directly with production teams to understand priorities, constraints and delivery risks.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems to manage production orders, material requirements, inventory information and manufacturing planning data.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple production requirements and respond quickly when priorities or schedules change.
- Good analytical and problem-solving capability, supported by proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- A proactive, hands-on and customer-focused approach, with strong communication and influencing skills. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, capacity planning and inventory management would be advantageous.

You will work closely with teams across Manufacturing, Production Planning, Purchasing, Stores, Engineering, Quality and Order Management. This is a collaborative environment where maintaining visibility of production progress and responding quickly to potential delivery issues are essential to meeting our customer commitments.
