Job Description

About the Role

Responsible for the operational management and overall end-to-end planning of production related activities, including ensuring the manufacturing facility / equipment can support the production demands. The role takes inputs from the Manufacturing Managers (Airframe & Powerplant, Avionics, Quality, Procurement) and coordinates the production rate through load balancing and top-level production design whilst maintaining safe production practices.

Responsibilities

Production Planning Management

  • Own and maintain the overall production timeline and associated risk register working alongside the Manufacturing Managers (Airframe & Powerplant, Avionics, Quality, Procurement) to ensure appropriate resourcing and prioritisation is achieved.
  • Report the timeline, workforce requirements, and risk registers into the Head of Manufacturing, and to the wider Manufacturing Management Team.
  • Schedule and assign all production activities through the Windracers production tools, providing weekly and quarterly progress reports against the targets.
  • Work with Manufacturing Managers - Quality and Procurement to drive cost reduction, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives across the supply base.
  • Prepare and present production reports, KPIs, and personnel requirement forecasts to senior management to track performance and value delivery.

Toolchain, Product Definition, and Production Flow Ownership

  • Develop the high-level production processes and related facility / equipment to support this (e.g. production timings, work allocation, workshop racking, information boards/screens, floor layout).
  • Input data into the production planning tools and allocate work assignments to production team. Provide feedback into the ERP Manager to ensure tooling is kept up to date.
  • Responsible for the Production Work Cards in collaboration with the Engineering Quality Team and Manufacturing Manager – Quality, including the creation, editing, and updating of the work card data / processes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Design and Quality to ensure specifications of production items are kept up to date. Support Manufacturing Managers Quality and Procurement to establish product definition within production is correct and consistent with customer requirements.
  • Ensure the product definition for outgoing production aircraft, is kept up to date.
  • Work in accordance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Other responsibilities as agreed with your manager.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in production planning or production design within an engineering manufacturing context (aerospace or relevant industry) (4+ years).
  • Demonstrable experience within a manufacturing domain, with knowledge of typical aerospace production practices and standard compliance (2+ years).
  • Previous experience in creating and updating production procedures for subsystems of airframes, larger airframe assemblies, or powerplant systems including the generation or overseeing of work cards and SOPs.
  • Strong computer literacy, experience working with Microsoft Office 365 products, and standard manufacturing software tools (e.g. MRP (Odoo desirable)).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Right to work within the UK.
  • BPSS vetting minimum and SC clearance as required (by role, location or client).

  • Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) operational and industry knowledge
  • Previous experience with Atlassian (Jira)
  • Practical hands-on skills in fabrication, welding, metalworking, CNC / Turning, general mechanical / electronics assembly, engine build/re-build, and building of production jigs.
