Company Description

LGC Genomics and Diagnostics develops and manufactures a comprehensive portfolio of catalogue and custom-developed diagnostic quality solutions and component materials for the extended life sciences industry. We partner with IVD assay developers, and pharmaceutical, CRO and academic institutions in commercialization activities across the entire diagnostic pipeline. As a Production Scientist, you will primarily be based within our Purification and Reagents department, supporting a range of activities including DNA extraction, KASP/ BHQ manufacturing, protein purification, and PCR based workflows. While your main focus will be KASP and BHQ manufacturing, there may be opportunities and business needs that require you to support and receive cross-training in other areas, including bacterial production, protein purification, cell culture, product aliquoting, and quality control testing. You will also assist with inventory management, database maintenance, and the receipt of incoming shipments. Comprehensive training will be provided to support your development and broaden your laboratory skills and expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Mastermix production and PCR testing
  • DNA extraction
  • Protein purification
  • Support the following areas as required:
    • Production of bacteria at laboratory and manufacturing scale
    • Generate and purify recombinant proteins using established laboratory processes.
    • Perform plasmid cloning and support scale-up activities for recombinant production.
    • Suspension and adherent cell culture
    • Prepare, aliquot, label and package products in accordance with approved procedures.
    • Perform quality control assays and accurately record and report results.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and support stock control activities.
    • Manage laboratory databases and ensure production and quality records are maintained.
    • Receive, inspect and process incoming materials and shipments.
    • Undertake cross-training in additional production and quality activities to support business needs and personal development.
