Production Senior Supervisor

PrepWorld is one of the largest fresh cut fruit suppliers in the UK. We supply all major supermarkets 364 days a year, and we are looking for a Production Senior Supervisor. You will be leading a team of upwards of 400 staff on site at peak times. As the deputy to the Shift Manager you will be pivotal in the performance of your shift and the wider business.

Naturally within a high labour environment your passion for, and proven experience in, developing people, process management and improvement every day, will help you guide the team to new levels of performance.

Main duties:

  • Support the Shift Manager to ensure the shift production plan is completed in full for both finished product and WIP at or below budget cost.
  • Ensure the safety, legality and quality of our products at all times, and make sure that CCP’s and Food Safety standards are adhered to across all areas of the shift.
  • Implementation of daily operational plans to ensure production targets are met.
  • Ensure appropriate KPIs set by the Shift Manager are met and that all levels within your shift are actively working towards improving performance.
  • Cross reference time and attendance systems for all team members and manage any discrepancies.
  • Mentoring, coaching and supporting of Supervisors, ensuring all training requirements are met, identifying and developing talent and ensuring required skill levels for shift team are maintained.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews for direct reports and take responsibility for effective performance management of shift staff under your management.
  • Support the Shift Manager in maintaining rotas and T&A processes as required.
  • Ensure agency staff levels are as booked and all relevant timesheets and paperwork are completed accurately and on time.
  • Deliver production plans and make sure appropriate allocation within the factory to each department, communicate target finish times and hours limit to each area.
  • Ensure staff hours are utilised in the most efficient way possible on shift, moving people around between roles as appropriate to maximise output of finished product.
  • Run investigation and disciplinary meetings for direct reports with the support of HR business partners.
  • Attend daily meetings with Production Management & Planning team to deliver profitable plan for the next 24 hour cycle.
  • Ensure projects are implemented and embedded on time, to agreed costs and specifications.
  • Work closely with other departments to achieve the best possible outcomes for the business.
  • Lead by example and help drive CI initiatives and promote and implement the company Ways of Working to production teams.
  • Deputise for Shift Manager in their absence - e.g. when closing a shift, midday meetings, holidays etc.

Who we are looking for:

  • Proven and demonstrable experience (min 3 years) in a Supervisor role within Food Manufacturing (Essential)
  • Understanding of operational P&L and able to deliver key messages and direction confidently (Essential)
  • Fresh produce experience (Highly desirable)
  • Proven and demonstrable experience of supervising a team of 50+ (developing / building a team, supporting and achieving results through others) (Essential)
  • HACCP L3 (Essential)
  • IOSH Managing Safely (Highly Desirable)
  • Intermediate level of Excel skills (Essential)
  • Good standard of written and spoken English

Days of work: Wednesday to Saturday

Hours: 05:30am - 17:30 / 18:00pm

Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on experience

Location: Prepworld, Northfleet, DA11 8HH (please check your commute and route before applying)
