Shift Manager – Bakery Production
WE'RE HIRING: SHIFT MANAGER (BAKERY PRODUCTION)
📍 Leeds | Full-time | Competitive Salary (Up to £32,000 per annum based on experience) + Benefits
We’re looking for an exceptional Shift Manager to lead our bakery production team. The Shift Manager is the heartbeat of the bakery — owning the shift and turning plans into performance by delivering safe, high-quality production on time.
You will lead from the front, setting the standard for behaviour, food integrity and accountability, ensuring the operation runs with control, consistency and pride. This is a fast-moving, high-volume environment where standards matter and details count.
You’ll work closely with the Production Manager, Operations Manager and Bakery Director to execute plans, solve problems quickly, and keep the operation running smoothly.
If you like structure, predictability, and a quiet life — this is not for you. If you thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments where you take ownership and lead from the front — you’ll fit right in.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Output
- Own delivery of daily production plans and output targets
- Ensure efficient use of labour and resources on shift
- Maintain control of the production schedule and respond to issues in real time
Quality & Food Integrity
- Take full ownership of product quality on shift
- Ensure all products meet specification and customer expectations
- Prevent defects, rework and non-conformance

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
