This role will drive efficiencies of production to meet demand. It requires a proactive approach in problem-solving to address production issues to deliver service and continuous improvement. Results-focused role, leading to better labour efficiencies in accordance with the Business Operational KPIs and high technical standards of quality, safety, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).

Working towards a safe and compliant environment, manufacturing quality product as required by the Customer agreed standard, working with colleagues to improve efficiency and process loss, and driving a culture of Continuous Improvement to manage and drive all operational activity and performance. The role will involve leading and motivating production teams operating through team leaders, ensuring compliance to all Health and safety and operational standards.
Salary - 45,000 GBP + Bonus + Benefits
2 Vacancies - 1 in Afternoon Shift, 1 in Night Shift
Responsibilities
- To monitor objectives and performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
- Full responsibility for attainment of the following KPIs in production on your assigned shift
- Ensure that Health & Safety is adhered to at all times
- Food Safety Compliance (GMP/Complaints)
- Labour Variance (Utilisation and Productivity of staff)
- Materials Variance (Material Stock Control/Waste/Yield)
- Attainment of Plan (Customer Service Level)
- People Management (Absence Control, Training, and Holiday management)
- Quality (Complaints and Non Conformances)
- Hygiene (Housekeeping and Cleaning Procedures)
- To encourage and support the development of Area controllers/Section leaders via training and coaching methods
- To ensure that procedures which support and strengthen workplace health & safety, quality, food safety, hygiene, and environmental standards are adhered to
- To identify and implement product or process improvements which adhere to customer specification
- To assist with the implementation of manufacturing improvement techniques (Lean Manufacturing)
- To work as part of the Operations/Production team to improve departmental performance:
- To work with key support departments (Engineering, Hygiene, QA, Stores, Planning, Despatch, H&S, Personnel) to maximize performance of the production team
- To respond to planned and unplanned events in the production department
- To report urgent issues to the Production APU Manager as quickly as possible and work together to reach a solution
- To work with the Engineering Team
- To communicate downtime issues, ensuring fast response to breakdowns
- To work with the Planning Department to adjust daily production schedules to maximize operational efficiency while maintaining customer service levels
- To help implement and ensure Company Policy and Procedures are adhered to:
- To ensure product quality standards are maintained and the associated paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner
- To provide support in the event of customer visits/audits or product issues
- To assist with NPD trials on lines and provide feedback on operational issues that arise
- To work together with the other shifts to ensure cohesion and consistency of approach. Where necessary, provide cover in their absence
- To carry out ad-hoc projects or investigations as required by the business
- To achieve specific performance/project targets
- To carry out other duties as considered necessary
