Join us as a Production Shift Manager at our Denton site in North Manchester!
Wienerberger Ltd manufactures and provides wall, roof and landscaping products for the construction sector. We offer innovative and sustainable solutions across the whole building envelope for new build, renovation projects and across the building industry.
About the Role
As Production Shift Manager at our Denton site, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of your shift in the manufacturing process.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will provide strong and effective leadership, managing the production activities of your shift, leading by example, and driving health, safety, and environmental best practice. You will play an important role in process improvements to help optimise the factory.
Other responsibilities include:
- Ensuring effective manufacturing operations which produce to target volumes, yield and efficiency
- Analysing production data to identify and drive opportunities to improve performance
- Measure / evaluate results of improvement actions and the cost gains/return in performance against investment
- Use problem solving techniques and tools (RCA, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc) to identify and resolve any manufacturing issues
- Perform and review Risk Assessments and develop Safe working procedures
- Work closely with quality and maintenance departments to support a collaborative culture
- Identify training requirements of staff
- Investigate any accidents, injuries or near misses
- Ensure that HR policies and procedures are followed

This site produces bricks, supporting our manufacturing of high-quality building materials across the UK.
This position is based at our Denton site, which is near to Hyde, Audenshaw, Bredbury and Openshaw, easily commutable from Oldham, Stockport, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Mottram in Longendale, and Greater Manchester.
Hours of Work: 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday
About You
You will have strong experience in a production/manufacturing environment which has been delivering high-volume production activity (such as heavy industry, automotive, food or FMCG). Health and safety is a top priority for us, so you will have strong experience promoting a safe working culture.
You will ideally have experience with supervision/line management or have transferable skills to offer, such as:
- Coaching
- Addressing performance issues
- Motivating others
- Managing change
- Conflict resolution
- Administration skills
- Resource planning and organisation
You will also have:
- Experience of lean manufacturing techniques
- Experience implementing continuous improvement activities
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written)
- Strong experience in line management and related HR activities
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Adaptability to change
Desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH qualifications
- Experience of heavy clay manufacturing
