Are you an experienced manufacturing professional who can lead from the shop floor, keep production on plan and bring out the best in your team?
As a Production Shift Supervisor at A-SAFE, you’ll oversee day-to-day activity on the production floor, making sure people, processes and materials come together safely and efficiently. Reporting to the Shift Manager, you’ll lead Production Operatives, set clear priorities and keep the shift focused on production targets, quality standards and company procedures.
This is a visible, hands-on supervisory role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll monitor production lines, coordinate work across the shift and respond quickly when quality, materials, equipment or staffing affect the plan. You’ll also make sure products are manufactured to specification, packaged and labelled correctly, recorded in the right quantities and handled and stored in a way that protects their quality and integrity. You’ll combine practical shop-floor leadership with disciplined production control, keeping accurate records, monitoring performance, maintaining inventory control, completing audits and delivering clear shift handovers.
How you will make an impact:
- Lead Production Operatives across the shift, providing clear direction, sharing updates and acting as the first point of contact for day-to-day questions and concerns.
- Put health and safety first, enforcing company policies and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Monitor production lines and coordinate shift activity so schedules, production targets and internal and external timed deliveries are achieved.
- Make sure products meet required quality standards and are correctly packaged, labelled, identified, counted, handled and stored.
- Troubleshoot production and quality issues, raise nonconformity reports and follow the Non-Conforming Product Process, escalating when an issue cannot be resolved on shift.
- Maintain production logs and record and analyse performance measures, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Process Analysis Boards and MRD data, as directed by the management team.
- Carry out regular audits, maintain accurate inventory control and work with the Warehouse to coordinate raw-material availability.
- Make sure production documentation is completed correctly and stored in line with company policy.
- Coordinate the timely transfer of finished goods to The Cube for shipping and undertake stock-check investigations when required.
- Maintain strong 5S standards, including cleaning, inspection, detection, correction and end-of-shift housekeeping.
- Take ownership of Standard Operating Procedures, helping generate SOPs, making sure they are displayed correctly and checking that the team follows them.
- Make sure team members are trained on existing and new products, building cross-functional capability across the team.
- Conduct return-to-work and investigation meetings, and provide constructive coaching and feedback to improve performance.
- Recommend and implement practical process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce waste.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
