Shift Leader – Production (FMCG)

Basingstoke | £32,500 | Afternoon Shift (2pm–10pm)

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established FMCG production business in the Basingstoke area for an experienced Shift Leader to take ownership of their afternoon shift.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume FMCG environment, keeping the production floor running smoothly, hitting output targets, maintaining exacting quality and hygiene standards, and getting the best out of their team.

What you’ll be doing

  • You’ll lead and supervise the production team during your shift, allocating tasks and resources to meet the production plan, and running clear shift briefings and handovers so nothing gets lost between teams.
  • In a high-speed FMCG setting, you’ll monitor output and line performance against targets, stepping in quickly to address any shortfalls, and support efficient changeovers and line set-up to keep downtime to a minimum.
  • You’ll also maintain accurate production and batch records using in-house systems, carry out quality checks and take corrective action where needed, and uphold the strict hygiene, GMP and product safety standards expected in consumer goods manufacturing, including cleaning schedules, allergen controls, traceability and housekeeping.
  • On the people side, you’ll motivate, coach and support your team, handling performance and conduct matters in line with company procedure, and develop team members so they can step up and cover shift leader duties when needed. Health & safety is a constant thread throughout: running toolbox talks and safety briefings, ensuring correct PPE use, and supporting the investigation of any accidents or near misses.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
