Location: Rushden, Northamptonshire NN10

Salary: A GBP 36,500 per annum

Shift Pattern

Continental Shift Pattern

  • 3 days on / 2 days off
  • 3 nights on / 4 days off
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Days: 7:00am to 7:00pm
  • Nights: 7:00pm to 7:00am

About The Role

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions have an exciting opportunity for a Production Shift Technician to join a busy manufacturing operation in Rushden.

Reporting to the Shift Manager, the Production Shift Technician plays a key role in supporting the safe, efficient and reliable operation of production machinery and associated equipment. The successful candidate will provide technical support in both reactive and preventative situations, ensuring machinery and ancillary equipment are correctly set up, optimised and maintained to achieve production, quality and efficiency targets.

Working closely with Production, Engineering, Technical and Quality teams, you will troubleshoot production issues, support mould and material trials, optimise machine performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up production machinery and ancillary equipment safely and to the required standard.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support and respond to production and equipment issues.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve processing and production issues to minimise downtime, waste and loss of efficiency.
  • Support efficient shift operations and provide cover for the Shift Manager when required.
  • Conduct mould trials and support the successful introduction of new moulds into production.
  • Optimise machine cycle times and machine performance to achieve production targets.
  • Set up and optimise downstream equipment, including bottle testers, vision systems and skimmers.
  • Configure and optimise cobots and auto-packers to required packing specifications.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to processes and operating conditions.
  • Maintain accurate records, machine settings and shift documentation.
  • Support the development of technical skills across the shift team.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, quality and operational excellence at all times.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong technical experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience of machinery set-up, fault finding and process optimisation.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot production and processing issues.
  • Experience of mould changes, mould trials and production optimisation.
  • Good understanding of machine cycle optimisation and production efficiency improvement.
  • Experience of setting up and optimising ancillary production equipment.
  • Experience with automated packing equipment, cobots or similar automation would be advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
