A bit about us:

Brunel College is a highly successful independent alternative provision for young people. We specialise in providing a nurturing environment for vulnerable students, including students with SEND and behavioural needs, through personalised learning, small-group teaching and individual support.

Brunel College is a place where young people can learn through supportive interaction, experience and success. We aim to provide a safe environment for both young people and staff so that the emphasis can be placed upon growing, learning and fulfilling the potential that exists.

We are committed to improving the life chances of our young people by removing barriers to participation and achievement. Our intention is to create and continually develop a secure, inspiring and responsive environment where each young person is supported holistically to take ownership of their lives, their learning and their decisions.

Our mission is to empower all our young people to Believe, Achieve and Succeed, so that they can thrive in all aspects of their lives now and in the future.

An exciting time to join Brunel College

This is an exciting opportunity to join Brunel College at a significant point in our development.

We currently provide education for students in Years 9–11, with our curriculum designed to re-engage young people in education and provide meaningful pathways towards qualifications, further education, training and employment.

From September 2027, Brunel College will expand its provision to include Years 7–11, creating an exciting opportunity to further develop our curriculum and provide engaging, practical learning experiences for students across the full secondary age range.

All about the role

Production Skills is an important part of our practical and vocational curriculum. We want students to experience the satisfaction of designing, creating, making and completing high-quality work while developing skills that have genuine relevance to their future lives. The successful candidate will deliver engaging learning across Art, Design and Technology and practical production skills, adapting the curriculum to meet the needs, interests and abilities of our students.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring creativity and practical expertise to the role. Your background could be in Art, Design Technology, Product Design, resistant materials, construction, creative technologies or another relevant practical or vocational discipline. More important than fitting a particular subject profile is your ability to inspire young people through practical learning and to find creative ways of engaging students who may previously have struggled within mainstream education.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You will have considerable freedom to help shape and develop the Production Skills curriculum as Brunel College grows.

We are looking for someone who:

• Can plan and deliver engaging, creative and practical learning experiences in Art, Technology and/or related production skills. • Has strong practical skills and can inspire young people through designing, making and creating. • Can develop students' confidence, independence, creativity, problem-solving and practical skills. • Can adapt teaching and learning to meet a wide range of individual needs, including SEND and barriers to learning. • Understands that positive relationships are fundamental to successful teaching and learning. • Can establish a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment with clear expectations and routines. • Is enthusiastic about working with young people who may have experienced challenges or disruption within their previous education. • Can identify opportunities for students to work towards meaningful qualifications and pathways into further education, training and employment. • Is willing to contribute to the continued development of our curriculum as Brunel College expands to Years 7–11. • Can work collaboratively as part of a supportive and committed staff team. • Shares our commitment to improving the life chances of vulnerable young people.

Experience within alternative provision, SEND or a specialist setting would be advantageous, but it is not essential. We would particularly welcome applications from teachers who are excited by the opportunity to teach differently and use practical, creative learning to re-engage young people.

Why Brunel College?

This is an opportunity to work in a setting where relationships matter, class sizes are small and staff have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to individual young people. As Brunel College expands, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to influence the development of our Production Skills provision, helping us to create an ambitious practical curriculum for students from Years 7–11.

We can offer:

• Small teaching groups and the opportunity to provide genuinely personalised learning. • A supportive and nurturing environment for both students and staff. • The opportunity to help shape and develop an expanding curriculum. • A strong focus on practical, meaningful learning and preparation for adulthood. • Opportunities for professional development as the school continues to grow. • Flexibility, with both full-time and part-time applications welcomed. • The opportunity to join Brunel College at an exciting stage in its development.
