Status: Permanent, Full-Time, Day Shift
Work schedule: Monday to Friday, from 6:45 am to 3:15 pm with potential overtime
Work location: 349 Willow Street, Truro, NS, B2N5A6
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the feed manufacturing facility to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely production and delivery of quality feed products. Reporting to the Mill Manager, this position provides hands-on leadership to production employees and drivers while promoting a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be a strong operational leader who enjoys working on the production floor, supporting employees, solving problems, and driving results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
YOUR ROLE
- Lead and supervise daily production activities to ensure customer orders are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Coordinate and manage production schedules to meet operational and customer requirements.
- Monitor production processes and product quality to ensure compliance with established quality standards and specifications.
- Oversee the receiving of ingredients and raw materials required for production.
- Coordinate the safe and timely shipment of finished products to customers.
- Supervise and support up to 15 production employees and 5 drivers.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, training, and performance feedback to employees.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and workplace safety standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement, workplace inspections, and adherence to safe work practices.
- Work closely with maintenance personnel to identify equipment issues, minimize downtime, and support preventative maintenance initiatives.
- Coordinate facility housekeeping activities to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in employee development and cross-training activities to build a versatile and effective workforce.
- Ensure effective communication between production, maintenance, logistics, and leadership teams.
- Lead by example and maintain high standards of professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.

REQUIRED PROFILE

- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing, production, industrial, agricultural, feed, or food-processing environment.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced operational setting.
- Strong understanding of production processes, workplace safety, and continuous improvement principles.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience managing employee performance, training, and development.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
