Job Opportunity: Production Supervisor at Neogen Heywood

Join Neogen Heywood as a Production Supervisor and play a central role in delivering safe, compliant and efficient manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will provide visible leadership across assigned production areas, translating manufacturing plans into effective day-to-day execution. You will lead and develop Team Leaders, coordinate people, materials and equipment, and ensure performance, quality and safety standards are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily and weekly production activity, coordinating labour, skills, materials, equipment and priorities to achieve agreed manufacturing schedules.
- Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership, Gemba activity, hazard reporting, 6S standards and prompt intervention where unsafe conditions are identified.
- Manage Tier 2 performance routines using PSQDC measures, ensuring issues are clearly owned, actions are completed and significant risks are escalated appropriately.
- Coach, support and develop Team Leaders, building their confidence, accountability and ability to resolve operational issues within their areas.
- Ensure manufacturing is completed in line with approved SOPs, work instructions, specifications and Quality Management System requirements, with accurate and timely documentation.
- Drive structured problem solving and continuous improvement, working closely with Planning, Quality, Engineering, Warehouse and other operational teams to address constraints and improve performance.

Job Requirements
- Experience leading people within a manufacturing, production or comparable operational environment.
- Proven ability to organise teams, resources and workloads to meet deadlines and maintain operational performance.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and people-management skills, with experience coaching or developing employees.
- A clear commitment to health and safety, quality, process discipline and regulatory compliance.
- Sound operational judgement, with the ability to prioritise effectively, make timely decisions and escalate risks appropriately.
- Confidence using performance data and operational systems to monitor delivery, identify issues and support improvements.
- Desirable experience includes:
- Previous Team Leader or Supervisor experience;
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, 5S/6S, Gemba or structured problem-solving tools;
- ERP/MRP system experience;
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment such as life sciences, food, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals or medical devices.
