Production Supervisor
We are looking for an experienced, practical and highly organised Production Supervisor to join our manufacturing team and play a key role in the safe, efficient and effective day-to-day running of our production operation.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is a hands-on role with significant responsibility for coordinating day-to-day production. You will work closely with Production Team Leaders, Quality, Warehouse, Engineering and Management to ensure that people, materials, equipment and production priorities are effectively coordinated to meet customer requirements.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership, making decisions and solving problems. When production doesn't go to plan — whether because of equipment breakdowns, material shortages, staffing pressures, quality issues or changing priorities — you'll help establish what needs to happen, coordinate the right people and follow issues through to resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily production across our blending, mixing and packing operations.
- Monitor progress against the production plan and identify potential delays or constraints before they affect output or customer service.
- Help ensure the right people, ingredients, packaging and equipment are available when required.
- Maintain a strong, visible presence on the production floor.
- Act as an important communication link between Production, Quality, Warehouse, Engineering and Management.
- Respond to day-to-day operational problems, establish priorities and coordinate practical solutions.
- Work with Engineering/Maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.
- Work with Warehouse to resolve ingredient, material and packaging availability issues.
- Work closely with Quality to resolve production-related quality issues.
- Support Team Leaders and production employees with day-to-day operational issues and effective deployment of resources.
- Support contractors and engineers working on site and help minimise disruption from maintenance and improvement work.
- Provide operational support and cover to the Operations Manager when required.

What We're Looking For
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience in a production supervisory, team-leading or production coordination role.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- The ability to remain calm and make sensible decisions when several issues occur at once.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work effectively with people at all levels.
- A good understanding of production processes and workflow.
- A strong commitment to food safety, quality and safe working practices.
- The confidence to take ownership of operational issues and follow them through to resolution.
- A willingness to be hands-on and highly visible within the production environment.

Experience within food manufacturing would be particularly advantageous, as would experience of blending or mixing operations, packing machinery, HACCP, continuous improvement and working with engineers or contractors.

This role will suit someone who is proactive, practical, organised and accountable. You'll be a strong communicator and natural team leader who can gain people's respect through knowledge, fairness, consistency and leading by example.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can become a trusted support to the Operations Manager in keeping the production operation moving safely and effectively.
