Production Support Database Engineer
Location: Anywhere in the UK (Preferably London, Belfast, Birmingham, or Sheffield)
Work Model: Hybrid (1 day per week in office)
Contract Duration: 12 Months, ASAP Start
Rate: £375 - £400 per day (inside IR35) may be negotiable DOE
Are you a Security Cleared Production Support professional with strong experience in Oracle Database, SQL, PL/SQL, and Unix Scripting? We're looking for a highly skilled Production Support Database Engineer to join a dynamic team responsible for managing critical production environments, ensuring application stability, and supporting business-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L2 Production Support for Oracle-based applications and backend databases
- Monitor production environments and manage incident, problem, and change management activities
- Investigate issues and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring incidents
- Write, analyse, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries for application support and data investigations
- Perform detailed data validation, reconciliation, and analysis activities
- Support application troubleshooting using Oracle schemas, tables, views, indexes, joins, and subqueries
- Analyse query performance and assist with performance tuning initiatives
- Implement and support data fixes and database-related production changes
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure service stability and SLA adherence
- Provide support during deployment activities, including out-of-office-hours deployment windows when required

Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database and Production Support environments
- Advanced knowledge of SQL, Oracle Schemas, Tables, Views, Indexes, and Data Relationships
- Expertise in data validation, data analysis, reconciliation, and defect investigation
- Strong experience with complex SQL queries and query performance analysis
- Working knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL, Stored Procedures, and Packages
- Experience with Unix Scripting for support and automation activities
- Ability to work effectively within a 24x7 production support environment
- Active Security Clearance and eligibility to work on secure UK engagements

Desirable Skills
