Role Overview - Production Team Leader
Are you an experienced Production Team Leader looking to take the next step in your manufacturing career?
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established global manufacturing business seeking a motivated and hands-on Production Team Leader to join their production operation in Tewkesbury. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong people manager who is passionate about safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Working closely with the Production Manager, you will be responsible for leading day-to-day production activities, driving KPI performance, developing your team, and ensuring products are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will play a key role in creating a positive, accountable, and high-performing manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities - Production Team Leader
- Support factory planning activities and deputise for the Production Manager when required.
- Lead the achievement of production KPIs and drive improvements to operational performance.
- Identify and implement solutions to production challenges and bottlenecks.
- Plan labour requirements and proactively address resourcing concerns.
- Ensure daily production output is accurately recorded and reported.
- Manage disciplinary, capability, and performance-related matters in accordance with company policies.
- Monitor attendance and sickness levels, conducting return-to-work interviews when required.
- Carry out appraisals and performance reviews, identifying training and development needs.
- Lead root cause analysis activities and implement corrective actions to improve quality performance.
- Support the standardisation and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
- Take responsibility for opening and closing the factory when required.
- Champion lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with customer, quality, and industry standards.
- Foster a culture of engagement, innovation, teamwork, and accountability.

Key Experience & Qualifications - Production Team Leader
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven leadership or line management experience.
- Engineering qualification or relevant industry experience.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within manufacturing.
- Experience managing employee performance, development, and attendance.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and lead teams effectively.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Continuous improvement and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
