Production Team Leader
📍 Leicester | 💰 £15.07 per hour | 🕒 37.5 hours per week | Full-Time, Permanent

We're now looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Production Team Leader to join our team in Leicester.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced production professional with leadership experience to play a key role in a busy food manufacturing environment.
Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll lead and motivate your team to deliver production targets while maintaining the highest standards of quality, food safety, and health & safety. You'll be a visible presence on the shop floor, driving performance, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring our products meet the standards our customers expect.
Shift Pattern
- 37.5 hours per week
- 5 days out of 7
- 7.5-hour shifts
What You'll Be Doing
As Production Team Leader, you will:
- Ensure the Health & Safety of yourself and the team at all times
- Lead, coach and support production teams to achieve daily production plans and targets.
- Work closely with the Production Manager to deliver efficient production schedules and resolve operational issues.
- Monitor production processes, equipment performance and product quality.
- Take ownership of key performance indicators including quality, productivity and service levels.
- Manage attendance, performance, training and day-to-day people matters.
- Ensure production records and documentation are completed accurately.
- Carry out production sampling, monitoring and data recording in line with audit requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste and drive continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively across departments and shift teams.
- Support team development through coaching and on-the-job training.
- Provide support across different production areas when required.

Health, Safety & Food Safety
Safety is our priority. You'll help create a safe working environment by:
- Promoting a strong Health & Safety culture.
- Following and enforcing HACCP, GMP and food safety procedures.
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards through a clean-as-you-go approach.
- Keeping walkways and emergency exits clear.
- Reporting accidents, near misses and equipment issues promptly.
- Ensuring equipment is safe, maintained and fit for use.
- Supporting site audit readiness through excellent hygiene and documentation standards.
Additional Responsibilities
You'll also:
- Manage stock control and complete weekly reporting.
- Provide operational cover across High Care, Low Care and Despatch when required.
- Support the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Carry out GMP inspections and implement corrective actions.
- Lead monthly production briefings and monitor follow-up actions.
- Plan ahead, communicate proactively and resolve issues before they impact production.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience within a food manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience in a Team Leader or Supervisory role.
- A good understanding of Health & Safety, HACCP and food hygiene standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and perform well in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive, flexible and hands-on approach to work.
- A passion for continuous improvement and developing people.
Training & Development

- Health & Safety
- HACCP & Food Hygiene
- Manual Handling
- Equipment operation (including pallet trucks and FLT where applicable)
- Train the Trainer
Physical Requirements
This role involves working in a busy manufacturing environment and will require you to:
