Production Team Leader, Barnsley
Elevation Recruitment Group is working with a successful engineering manufacturer in Barnsley to recruit a Production Team Leader for its modern manufacturing facility.
This is a hands-on leadership role with real ownership. You’ll take responsibility for a defined production area, leading a multiskilled team and keeping people, quality and output moving in the right direction.
You’ll be visible on the shop floor, supporting the team when required while driving performance against safety, quality, delivery and productivity targets. It would suit an experienced Team Leader who enjoys solving problems, developing people and finding better ways of working.
£39,395 guaranteed starting package, plus monthly performance bonus and premium-rate overtime
- Monday to Friday permanent days with an early finish Friday!
- 25 days’ holiday, increasing with service to 30 days, plus bank holidays

Key responsibilities of the Production Team Leader include:
- Organising and leading the team to achieve daily production targets
- Running shift start-up meetings and communicating priorities clearly
- Managing performance across safety, quality, productivity, utilisation and stock accuracy
- Monitoring the build plan and working closely with production support teams to maintain delivery
- Balancing labour and workload to minimise disruption and line stoppages
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety, including risk assessments, COSHH and manual handling
- Ensuring ISO 9001 and in-process quality procedures are followed
- Investigating quality issues and putting preventative actions in place
- Driving continuous improvement through lean manufacturing, Kaizen and waste reduction
- Maintaining strong 5S and housekeeping standards
- Taking full ownership of your area and escalating issues when needed

What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience leading a multiskilled team within manufacturing or engineering
- A practical, hands-on approach to production leadership
- Experience of capacity planning, scheduling or managing workloads
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
- The ability to develop people, processes and performance
- Basic technical or inspection knowledge
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems
- A strong focus on safety, quality and meeting commercial targets
