Production Technician | Northampton | £13.00–£14.50 per hour
Monday to Friday | 08:00–17:00 | Permanent | Full Training Provided
Are you someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in doing a job properly?
You don't necessarily need previous experience in cable assembly or electrical manufacturing for this opportunity. Our client is open to people from a wide range of backgrounds and, most importantly, is looking for someone with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in developing new skills.
Based in Brackmills, Northampton, this established manufacturing business produces specialist products for customers across a range of industries. They are now expanding their team and are looking for a reliable, practical person who wants to build a long-term career within a busy production environment.
What will you be doing?
This is a varied, practical position where you'll learn how products are prepared, assembled and checked before they reach the customer.
With full training provided, your day could involve:
- Putting components together using a range of hand tools and equipment
- Working with cables, connectors and other small components
- Using machinery once trained and confident
- Carrying out basic checks to make sure finished products meet the required standard
- Following straightforward instructions, diagrams and production information
- Preparing materials and components for production
- Labelling and organising completed work
- Learning new assembly and testing techniques
- Moving between different areas of the production operation depending on workload
- Keeping your work area organised, safe and tidy
- Working alongside colleagues to ensure orders are completed accurately and on time

What kind of person are they looking for?
The client is not looking for one particular background. If you've got the right attitude and enjoy practical work, they are happy to consider transferable experience.
You could come from a background in:
- Manufacturing or production
- Assembly
- Engineering
- Electrical or mechanical work
- Automotive
- Warehouse or workshop environments
- Construction or installation
- Machine operation
- Maintenance
- Electronics
- Or another hands-on role where you've developed good practical skills
You may already have experience using hand tools, assembling products, following instructions or working to quality standards — but this isn't essential.
What really matters is that you are:
- Reliable and committed to your work
- Comfortable working with your hands
- Naturally careful and attentive to detail
- Able to follow instructions and learn new processes
- Practical and willing to have a go
- Comfortable working as part of a small team
- Keen to develop new skills
- Positive in your approach and willing to learn
Previous electrical or cable assembly experience is useful, but it is not essential. Training will be provided, so this could be an excellent opportunity for someone looking to move into a more technical manufacturing environment.
