Production Technician
12-Month Fixed-Term Contract | Osprey Quay, Portland
Salary: From £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
About the Role
Build it. Integrate it. Make it happen.
G3 Systems is looking for a Production Technician to join our team at Osprey Quay, Portland, helping us build and deliver specialist deployable containerised solutions for customers in the UK and overseas.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys making things, solving practical problems and seeing a project come together. You’ll be working alongside our production and engineering teams, turning drawings, materials and components into finished solutions that are ready to go to work.
If you're mechanically or electrically skilled, comfortable with tools and equipment, and take pride in doing a job properly, we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Production Technician, you'll be involved throughout the build and integration process, including:
- Getting stuck into a variety of practical production and engineering tasks as directed by the Production Manager.
- Identifying the materials, components and equipment needed to get the job done.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings and following production instructions.
- Using hand tools and mains- and battery-operated tools safely and competently.
- Checking build quality and identifying and reporting production snags in line with G3 processes.
- Keeping project route cards and production records up to date as the work progresses.
- Helping identify better ways of working and contributing ideas that can make our production activities safer, smarter and more efficient.
- Looking after tooling, equipment and the integration facility.
- Carrying out local Health & Safety risk assessments and working in accordance with our safe systems of work.
- Keeping your work area clean, tidy and organised — because a good workshop is a productive workshop.
- Handling COSHH-controlled substances safely and responsibly.
- Supporting other production activities where your skills and experience can add value.
- Travelling within the UK and overseas when required as part of G3 Systems' project delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
