THE POSITION
We are currently recruiting for six Production Technicians to join us on a contract basis until March 2028 across five departments at our manufacturing site in Pirbright.
As a Production Technician, you will play a key role in the production of bulk volumes of inactivated Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) antigen and vaccines. You will ensure full compliance with HSE, Biosafety/Biosecurity and GMP standards, while delivering materials on time and in full to downstream stages of the manufacturing process.
These roles are site-based and require attendance five days per week.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform CIP (Clean-In-Place) and SIP (Sterilise-In-Place) operations to maintain the production schedule.
- Execute production processes in line with approved procedures, ensuring product integrity, quality, and compliance.
- Operate and maintain laboratory environments to cleanroom standards required for product manufacture.
- Maintain accurate and complete production batch records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage raw material stock levels, including routine checks and inventory control.
- Operate autoclaves to perform routine testing cycles and ensure effective cleaning and sterilisation of materials in accordance with approved procedures.
- Perform Grade A/B aseptic processing and BSC activities in accordance with GMP procedures, demonstrating strong aseptic technique, contamination control awareness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Generate and investigate deviations in a timely manner, ensuring accurate documentation and root cause analysis.
- Support departmental deviation investigations, contributing to effective resolution and continuous improvement.
- Assist in the completion and closure of Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) to ensure compliance and prevent recurrence.
- Involvement with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) incident reporting and investigation

- Ability to read, interpret and follow detailed instructions accurately to complete tasks
- Effective time management skills, with the ability to plan and complete work to agreed schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a wider team
- Able to work in a careful, methodical manner with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience in a similar role or within a highly regulated environment is desirable.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Positive, proactive ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook).
