What you’ll be responsible for
As a key member of the team, you will operate Water Treatment Works and associated water pumping stations in accordance with company BMS and Health & Safety requirements, helping to ensure the reliable delivery of high-quality water services to our customers.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing chemical stock levels, consumables and other essential supplies through effective purchasing and control processes using SAP.
- Monitoring and managing expenditure to support the achievement of budgetary targets.
- Inducting, supervising and coordinating external contractors undertaking revenue and reactive capital maintenance activities, breakdown repairs and project work.
- Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety and BMS requirements, while maintaining high standards of quality control.
- Working closely with the ME&I Crafts Team to coordinate revenue and reactive capital maintenance activities.
- Liaising with Network Supervisors and Operatives to plan and coordinate plant shutdowns for maintenance and other site activities, ensuring continuity of water supply wherever possible.
- Contributing to team resilience by supporting annual leave and sickness cover arrangements across the operational area.
- Undertaking any other duties required to support the needs of the business.

About you
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or above, BTEC, ONC/HNC qualification in Water or a related discipline.
- UK driving licence
Experience
- Experience gained within the water industry, with a strong commitment to working safely and ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety requirements.
Knowledge & Skills
- Passionate about delivering excellent service and putting our customers at the heart of everything you do.
- Confident using computer systems and software, such as SAP, Scope X, Exchange, Word and Excel.
- Awareness of industry regulators and their role in the sector, including the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI), Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales (NRW).
- Understanding of abstraction licence requirements and the management of raw water intakes.
- Understanding of discharge consent licences and environmental compliance requirements relating to site discharges.
- Able to work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders to support the safe and efficient operation of water treatment assets.

Good to know
- Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, providing a consistent work-life balance. Upon successful completion of training, you'll join a standby rota, typically 1 week in every 4, helping to support the continued delivery of essential services & up to 260 hours of planned overtime with additional earning potential.
