Production Tester – Permanent Position

About the Role

We’re seeking a Production Tester to join our expanding team at SWARCO’s production facility in Melsonby, North Yorkshire. Reporting to the Production Manager, the role focuses on ensuring all electro-mechanical products meet quality, functional, and performance standards before dispatch. Tasks involve visual inspections, functional testing, fault diagnosis, and maintaining precise quality documentation per company protocols.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual and functional testing of electro-mechanical products aligned with approved procedures and specifications.
  • Verify compliance with customer requirements, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
  • Perform functional, electrical, and mechanical testing of products and sub-assemblies.
  • Record test results and maintain traceable quality records.
  • Identify process improvements in quality control/testing while participating in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve production issues.
  • Mentor trainee production technicians as needed.

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience in production testing, quality inspection, or manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong grasp of electrical and mechanical assembly processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
  • Effective fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Competence in accurate record-keeping and documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

  • Experience testing electro-mechanical products.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO standards) and inspection techniques.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Practical experience with electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeters, insulation testers).
  • Understanding of continuous improvement and 5S principles.
