About Gallagher

At Gallagher, our purpose is simple: Protect what matters most.

For more than 85 years, we've been designing and manufacturing products that support farmers and rural communities around the world. As part of Gallagher, Norton Livestock Handling Solutions has built a reputation as Australia's leading manufacturer of livestock handling equipment, farm gates and yard systems.

While we're part of a respected global company, our Hastings team has a strong local feel. People stay because the work is steady, the team looks out for one another, and there's genuine pride in building quality Australian-made products that make a difference on farms every day.

The Opportunity

We're looking for two Production Welders to join our manufacturing team in Hastings.

If you're looking for a role where you can enjoy consistent 5-day weeks, steady year-round work, and the security of a well-established business, this could be exactly what you're after.

Working alongside an experienced workshop team, you'll weld, fabricate and assemble the livestock handling equipment Norton is known for across Australia. You'll also have the opportunity to expand your skills by working across a broad range of products, with ongoing training and support from the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
