Professional Development & Programmes Manager
£45,000 (£56,250 full-time equivalent) | Four days a week | Hybrid, London
Do you get real satisfaction from running programmes that participants love, and care just as much about whether the places fill? The Marketing Society is looking for a Professional Development & Programmes Manager to take ownership of Accelerate, our professional development portfolio for marketing leaders and their teams.
This is a four-day role, reporting to our Chief Commercial Officer, with flexibility around how and where you work. It is not simply a delivery role. We are looking for someone who brings strong programme management together with commercial thinking and a good understanding of learning and development.
Location
Flexible, remote working, with easy commuting distance into central London for key team meetings, Member events and industry engagements as required.
The role
You will have three main priorities:
- Manage Accelerate, making sure our programmes are well planned, joined up and delivered to a consistently high standard.
- Grow participation and revenue, working with colleagues, Members and prospective organisations to fill programmes and deliver against commercial targets.
- Develop the offer, using participant feedback, market insight and commercial performance to improve what we already run and shape what we build next.
The portfolio includes the Marketing Leaders Programme, Global Mentoring Programme, Learning Labs, Insiders Programme and Innovation Spotlight, alongside partner programmes such as MiniMBA and Marketing Leadership Masterclass. You will also work with the wider team on Ones to Watch.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you will do
- Own the annual programme calendar, plans, budgets and milestones, coordinating facilitators, speakers, venues and partners.
- Look after the participant journey from registration and onboarding through to completion and follow-up.
- Be accountable for participation and revenue across Accelerate, with a clear view of bookings, pipeline and capacity.
- Work with Membership, Marketing and Commercial colleagues to build demand, and identify the Members and organisations that would benefit from specific programmes.
- Use feedback and performance data to recommend changes to format, content, pricing or delivery.
- Keep budgets, forecasts and reporting accurate, and carry the learning from each programme into the next.
What we are looking for
- Around five years’ experience in professional development, L&D, executive education, membership or a similar environment, including at least two to three years owning programmes end to end.
- Experience running several programmes at once, including timelines, budgets, stakeholders and delivery.
- Confidence working with senior participants, facilitators and external partners.
- Evidence of growing participation, revenue or the performance of a programme or product.
- Comfort owning budgets, forecasts and performance reporting.
- The curiosity to ask what marketing leaders need, what organisations will pay for and how Accelerate should evolve.
