Salary: £27,319 to £30,378 per annum
Closing Date: Wednesday 21 October 2026
Reference: CH5016-26-223

We are seeking to recruit a permanent full-time Professional Placements Administrator to join our vital placements team within the College of Health, Education and Public Life.

This is a busy and highly responsible role working within a supportive and well-established team, and you will have responsibility for organising and monitoring the placement of students with a range of external placement providers. This will involve assessing the suitability of placements and matching students to placements appropriately. You will have extensive contact with students and staff at a variety of levels within the University, and external placement provider contacts, providing practical advice and up to date placement data, so your effective communication and customer service skills will be invaluable for building effective relationships.

As well as using your own initiative, you will need to be able to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a large and friendly team. You must have the ability to work systematically to meet frequent hard deadlines and have the problem-solving abilities to proactively deal with unexpected change. The ability to plan and prioritise your own workload and to accurately and confidently work with databases and Excel is essential to this role.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

To Be Successful, You Should Have

  • The skills to be able to build professional networks and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, using your own initiative to progress and meet frequent deadlines.
  • Good customer service experience, which will include excellent communication skills.
  • Administrative experience in a complex fast-paced organisation.
  • Good IT skills, including full working knowledge of MS Office programmes. Excel skills are of particular importance.

Experience of working with large databases and software platforms is required, and an understanding of University processes would also be of benefit, but by no means essential.
