Professional Registration Support Officers for CILIP
CILIP is expanding the Professional Registration Support Officer (PRSO) team. We are particularly interested in applicants from the North East, North West and Wales.
A PRSO is a volunteer role that supports those going through Professional Registration. Our current PRSOs have found that working in the role enhances professional growth as well as helping others to do the same.
If you have achieved a level of Professional Registration and have recently worked in a library or related information setting and would like to give back to the profession, this is the role for you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

PRSOs work as part of a nationwide team providing consistent and well-informed training and advice to our Professional Registration candidates. Working with the PRSO team, you would be involved in the delivery of at least two online training sessions a year to candidates. The PRSO team meet online every two months to plan and receive up to date information from CILIP about current processes and issues, and also attend meetings with their regional network group.
