Employment PSL – Birmingham

National Law Firm | Build & Shape a New Employment Function | Birmingham

Are you an experienced Employment Solicitor looking for a role that offers something different from the traditional fee-earning route?

We are working with a highly regarded national law firm looking to appoint an ambitious Employment PSL in Birmingham, with a unique opportunity to help establish and shape the firm's Employment PSL function from the ground up.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer who enjoys being at the forefront of legal developments, knowledge management, training and best practice, and who wants to play a key role in developing the infrastructure of a growing national practice.

The Opportunity

This is a genuinely influential role. You won't simply be stepping into an established PSL position — you will have the opportunity to create the role, develop the function and make it your own.

Working closely with the Employment team and senior leadership, you will:

  • Establish and develop the firm's Employment PSL function.
  • Monitor and analyse key developments in employment law and assess their impact on clients and fee earners.
  • Produce high-quality legal updates, briefings and know-how.
  • Develop and maintain precedents, templates, guidance and other knowledge resources.
  • Support fee earners with complex technical and legal queries.
  • Deliver internal training and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Develop the firm's employment know-how and knowledge management strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and consistency across the team.
  • Support the preparation of client briefings, seminars and external-facing employment content.
  • Work closely with the wider PSL and knowledge teams across the national firm.
  • Help develop a consistent employment offering across the firm's offices.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
