Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

A key expectation will be to develop and lead significant external funding bids in collaboration with colleagues within the Discipline, School, and University, and with industry, public-sector, and international partners. The appointee will be expected to build a strong funding pipeline that responds to the opportunities created by the UK Industrial Strategy’s eight growth-driving sectors, particularly Financial Services and Digital and Technologies, and translates research excellence into policy, business, and societal impact.

The successful candidate will provide intellectual leadership within the Finance and Accounting Discipline and contribute actively to the development of colleagues. This includes supporting and mentoring early career researchers, building interdisciplinary teams, and developing a vibrant doctoral community through the recruitment, supervision, and development of PhD and professional doctorate researchers.

The role will also involve senior academic leadership in education, including contributing to the development of distinctive finance and FinTech provision across undergraduate, postgraduate, executive, and doctoral programs.
