We are seeking to appoint a Reader or Professor of Law to join the Law School within the School of Business, Education and Law (SBEL) at the University of Huddersfield.
Sitting within the School of Business, Education and Law, the Law School has its own dedicated Moot Court, runs a successful pro bono Legal Advice Clinic, has submitted to the Research Excellence Framework for the first time and has excellent professional links at a regional and national level. The Law School has a dedicated research centre for law called The Centre for Law, Environment and Rights (CLEAR) which promotes research in human rights, environmental law, and social justice.

Role Overview
As a Reader / Professor in Law, you will contribute to the School’s strategic research ambitions through the development of a dynamic, high-impact research programme, leading to sustained peer-reviewed outputs and securing external research funding. You will play an active role in mentoring early-career researchers, supervising doctoral students, and contributing to the Research Excellence Framework (REF). Alongside research, you will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, and academic leadership within the Law School and the School of Business, Education and Law (SBEL).
Qualifications
- A PhD in Law
- An internationally recognised scholar with a distinguished record of high-quality publications, external funding, and research leadership
- Extensive experience of teaching and supervision in higher education
- The ability to support and inspire colleagues and students alike
- A commitment to collegiality, collaboration, and academic citizenship
- Potential for this role to progress to Head of Department, with line management responsibility where appropriate
