Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties Assistant - (PLMD)
Trowbridge - Wiltshire | Full/Part time available | £85-£110 per day | September 2026 Start
Are you a compassionate and dedicated Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties Assistant looking to make a difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs? We are seeking a caring Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties Assistant to join a supportive school based in Trowbridge - Wiltshire, where you'll play a vital role in helping children achieve their individual goals in a safe and nurturing environment.
As a Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties Assistant, you will support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), complex medical needs, and physical disabilities. Working alongside teachers you will provide personalized support to help children access learning, develop communication skills, and enjoy making a positive impact.

The Role
As a Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties Assistant, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support tailored to each child's needs
- Assisting with sensory-based learning activities that encourage engagement and development
- Supporting children with personal care and mobility where required, while maintaining dignity and respect
- Using communication methods, such as Makaton, PECS, symbols, or communication aids to help pupils express themselves
- Building strong, trusting relationships with children
About You
This Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties Assistant will be suitable for someone who is patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting children with complex needs. Previous experience in education, care, healthcare, or support work is beneficial but not essential. This Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties Assistant position is ideal for anyone considering a future career in teaching, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, or other SEND professions.

What We Offer
