Information about the Program Facilitator role:

Emeritus is seeking a Program Facilitator in Corporate Governance: Driving Business Value Creation and Growth (Online Program). The Program Facilitator is a subject matter expert that serves as the front-line academic support for learners in the course, supporting the delivery of a high-impact, six-week online program. The Program Facilitator will be working closely with the Emeritus Instructional Team and CBS faculty. Candidates must have industry experience and demonstrated knowledge of the course subject area; They will guide learners through complex topics from assessing the board structure using a skills matrix to formulating succession plans for senior executives.

This is a great role for someone who wants work flexibility and the chance to diversify their resume with consultancy and teaching experience. This is an independent contractor position in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities of the Program Facilitator include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate weekly office hours and moderate required discussion boards.
  • Moderate and guide learner engagement during faculty live sessions.
  • Support learners in synthesizing live session content delivered by the faculty (e.g., governance, compliance, risks frameworks, ethics compliance etc).
  • Assist with capstone assignment challenges.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers to improve engagement and comprehension.
  • Monitor learner progress and provide support or escalation as needed.

Qualifications for the Program Facilitator role:

  • 10+ years of extensive work experience in the field of corporate governance or any related field.
  • A degree plus MBA from a top university.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in compliance, risk management or related fields.
  • Proven experience creating, reviewing and implementing internal policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal controls and governance.
  • Proven experience updating the governance organizational frameworks.
  • Proven experience ensuring company practices align with legal obligations and governance standards.
  • Proven experience analyzing monthly reports and establishing operational procedure manuals.
  • Proven experience managing corporate governance projects from initiation to closure.
  • Experience providing guidance and recommendations to management to ensure corporate governance plans align with company goals.
  • Experience supporting executive or mid-career professionals in continuing education is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills with an ability to listen effectively, respond appropriately, and maintain a mutual comfort level while working with a diverse population.
  • Ability to translate content into actionable insights.
  • Empathetic and learner-centered approach.
  • Comfortable in an online environment, navigating LMS platforms (Canvas), Zoom, Slack, or similar environments.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage weekly cycles of engagement and support.

Program Description and Context:

The Corporate Governance (Online) program from Columbia Business School Executive Education is designed to equip participants with the skills to overcome emerging challenges of the new era, from navigating regulatory disruption to leveraging technological transformations. The program aims to help current and future board members and senior executives deepen their understanding of their roles and responsibilities while aligning strategic organizational goals. Participants can harness the insights, frameworks and tools they learn to enhance the value they bring to the boardroom and ensure high-performance governance practices.

  • Duration: 6-weeks (estimated learner commitment: 4–5 hours/week).
  • Structure: Blend of asynchronous Canvas activities and live Zoom sessions.
  • Target Audience: Mid- to senior-level professionals and leaders.
