Job Title: PMO Analyst (Consultant)
Location: City of London - onsite 3 days per week
Duration: Fixed Term Contract - 6 months
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 dependent on experience
Start: ASAP
At Pace, our consultants genuinely care about the impact our work has on our customers and their customers alike. We are ‘problem solvers’ who call on our collective experience, knowledge and skills to support customers to access benefits early.
Our mission is to create environments that thrive for our customers; we enable this by providing transformation, process optimisation, and automation services, all with the aim of enabling our customers to harness human autonomy.
We are reimagining how transformation services are delivered, taking a human-centred approach, and our work is having a material impact on people's lives. If this resonates with you, we would love to hear from you.
Role:
Supporting one of our key customers in Central London, you will provide Portfolio Management Office support across complex Business Change and Technology portfolios during the transition to a new operating model.
You will play an important role in maintaining stability, consistency and effective delivery oversight across the portfolio. Working closely with Project Managers and senior stakeholders, you will help ensure that portfolio reporting, governance, project assurance, financial controls and demand intake processes operate effectively.
This is a hands-on PMO position that will suit someone who enjoys creating structure, maintaining high standards and helping Project Managers navigate established ways of working. The priority is consistent day-to-day delivery and stability, rather than introducing unnecessary process change or seeking out major transformation initiatives.
You will also support the migration of live and pipeline project information to a new portfolio management solution, helping to maintain the quality, accuracy and continuity of portfolio data throughout the transition.
Responsibilities:
- Support Project Managers in consistently applying the customer’s project management methodology, including the use of appropriate templates and the maintenance of complete, proportionate and high-quality project documentation.
- Provide practical guidance to Project Managers, particularly new joiners, to help them understand and navigate portfolio processes and governance requirements.
- Ensure the timely submission of project documentation, including status reports, gateway documents and supporting governance materials.
- Review project status reports to assess project health, proactively seek clarification from Project Managers and escalate material risks, issues or concerns when required.
- Produce and maintain accurate portfolio information, including portfolio trackers, dashboards, deployment plans and management reporting.
- Support the effective operation of the Portfolio Management Board by preparing agendas, coordinating board papers and submissions, and following up agreed actions.
- Provide guidance and quality assurance relating to project financial information, helping to resolve queries and maintain accurate portfolio oversight.
- Undertake adhoc analysis, including year-end reviews of delivered projects and performance against key measures such as time and cost.
- Prepare and manage a schedule of project deep dives to support quality assurance and identify delivery, control and governance risks.
- Maintain the project portfolio pipeline, ensuring records are current, complete and suitable for governance, prioritisation and capacity decisions.
- Support the demand intake process by monitoring request status, following up actions and contributing to the weekly demand triage forum.
- Support the transition to a new portfolio management solution, including the controlled migration of live project and pipeline data.
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers, portfolio leaders and other stakeholders to improve the quality of project information without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Maintain robust governance and reporting disciplines while supporting continuity of delivery throughout a period of organisational change.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
