Shape how a major capital programme is managed, governed and delivered
Lead the PMO (Portfolio Management Office) supporting Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust’s portfolio of capital projects, ranging from £5k to more than £50m.
This is a senior role with the opportunity to shape the governance, controls and insight behind capital investment across a complex NHS estate.
Strengthen how projects are planned, monitored and reported, giving senior leaders the information they need to make informed decisions and helping project teams deliver safely, compliantly, on time and within budget.
The impact you’ll have as PMO Lead
Bring greater consistency, visibility and control to the Trust’s capital programme.
Your leadership will strengthen the systems and processes behind project delivery, improve the quality of management information and provide greater assurance around performance, risk, cost and compliance.
Working across the capital portfolio, you’ll help create an environment where issues are identified early, decisions are backed by reliable information, and project teams have the structure they need to deliver.
Give leaders the insight to make informed decisions
Turn complex programme and project information into clear, useful insight for senior stakeholders.
You’ll oversee reporting across the capital portfolio, bringing together information on progress, budgets, risks, issues and performance to provide an accurate picture of delivery.
By establishing clear reporting standards and maintaining strong governance, you’ll help senior leaders understand where projects stand, where attention is needed and where decisions need to be made.

Shape how capital projects are governed and controlled
Take responsibility for the PMO framework that supports projects across the Trust’s estate, including:
- Developing and maintaining effective programme and project governance, controls and reporting.
- Establishing consistent project management standards, processes and documentation.
- Monitoring the performance of capital projects against agreed programmes, budgets and objectives.
- Providing clear and accurate portfolio reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Maintaining oversight of project risks, issues, dependencies and actions.
- Supporting effective financial monitoring and control across the capital portfolio.
- Ensuring project teams follow agreed governance and assurance processes.
- Supporting compliance with relevant Trust policies, statutory requirements and standards.
- Identifying opportunities to improve PMO processes and the way projects are managed.
- Providing assurance that projects are progressing safely, compliantly, on time and within budget.
Lead the people behind it
Lead and develop the PMO function, creating a consistent approach to programme and project management across the capital portfolio.
You’ll work closely with project managers and wider Estates and Facilities colleagues, providing the structure, challenge and support that enables teams to deliver effectively.
Building strong relationships across the Trust will be central to the role, particularly when bringing together financial, operational and project information from different teams and turning it into a clear view of portfolio performance.

What you’ll bring
You’ll need strong experience of programme or portfolio management within a complex capital environment, together with the ability to bring structure and clarity to a diverse programme of work.
You’ll need:
- Significant experience of programme, portfolio or PMO management within a complex organisation.
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective project governance, controls, assurance and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of project and programme management methodologies and processes.
- Experience monitoring complex capital programmes, including programme, cost, risk and performance.
- The ability to analyse complex information and translate it into clear reporting for senior stakeholders.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- The ability to challenge constructively, influence decisions and drive consistent standards across multiple projects.
