Programme Manager – Technology Modernisation & Transformation

Location: London (Hybrid)
Type: Fixed-Term Contract

The Client Ecosystem

Altrapoint has partnered with a leading digital acceleration consultancy that provides agile, technology-led transformation for global financial services institutions. Choosing an alternative to traditional advisory firms, buy-side institutions rely on them to execute change, automate complex processes, and drive operational efficiency up to 5x faster.

This engagement is anchored within a top-tier UK Private Bank and Wealth Manager following a major M&A integration that expanded their assets under management to £100B.

The Challenge & Opportunity

Following rapid expansion and post-merger integration, the institution is overhauling its technology landscape to replace spreadsheet-heavy legacy processes with modern engineering, cloud architecture, and automated data solutions.

Working directly with an engineering-focused, semi-agile executive technology leadership team, the Program Manager will step into an ambiguous environment to build, structure, and drive a flagship tech modernisation programme from scratch.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build the Programme Architecture: Stand up a structured technology modernisation roadmap from the ground up, establishing delivery milestones, execution frameworks, and transparent governance.
  • Define the Target Operating Model (TOM): Shape the future-state technology architecture rather than simply delivering against an off-the-shelf plan.
  • Navigate Post-Merger Ambiguity: Drive momentum across legacy cultural silos, align unclear accountability structures, and bring business and operational teams along on the change journey.
  • Eliminate Technical Debt: Identify operational friction points and implement data automation, modern engineering practices, and low-code solutions to replace manual spreadsheet dependency.
  • Executive Advisory: Present compelling risk-based and commercial arguments to senior committees to maintain buy-in for ongoing tech modernisation.

What We Are Looking For

  • Buy-Side / Wealth Management Expertise: Deep domain knowledge of Wealth Management, Private Banking, or Asset Management, including buy-side operational nuances and legacy tech challenges.
  • M&A & Integration Experience: A track record of shaping and delivering tech transformations through complex post-merger integrations or institutional realignments.
  • Resilient Change Delivery: A robust, politically savvy operator who cuts through organisational noise, instils delivery discipline, and commands the respect of executive engineering leads.
  • Modern Tech & Data Mindset: Strong exposure to modern data architectures, cloud platforms, and automation tools as levers for efficiency.
