Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Program Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading large, complex, and critical multi-geographical or functional teams, and be recognized as a senior leader by peers and team members. This role requires exceptional leadership, mentorship, technical skills, project delivery and management capabilities, business knowledge, communication proficiency, and social intelligence.

Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Management

  • Consistently oversee the successful delivery multiple large, complex, enterprise-level projects at key clients.
  • Manage full Project lifecycle including initial planning, scoping, cost estimation, scheduling, resourcing, technical solution design, monitoring project implementation metrics, action items, and deliverables, performing quality control and validation activities, end user training, and project closure activities.
  • Supervise project managers/senior project managers to ensure delivery goals are met. Manage projects that often consist of multiple agile teams that require integration with other activities and departments across the organization.
  • Experience in budgeting complex project deliveries and managing time and cost accurately.
  • Manage project risks and issues, correct deviations from plans with a focus on delivery planning.
  • Use high level of knowledge and experience in blending traditional PM principles and practices with an Agile development approach in the right proportions to fit large, complex, mission-critical, enterprise-level projects and with the appropriate level of planning and provide the right balance of agility and predictability.
  • Manage customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and implement an effective system of project governance.
  • Achieve the project goals within designated project constraints.
  • Take full accountability for customer satisfaction, actively addressing risks and issues.

Technical Skills

  • Possess a proven product skillset/background in software and program management or other relevant functions.
  • Have comprehensive experience and understanding of all major product considerations, risks, and issues relevant to driving successful client engagements.
  • Quickly identify product challenges or roadblocks, and develop and execute plans to resolve them.
  • Manage major scope challenges and risks with the largest client engagements.

Business Knowledge

  • Maintain strong and current knowledge of relevant energy industry sectors (e.g., upstream, midstream, tech, ESG).
  • Possess deep knowledge of different project/program delivery techniques, typically holding PMP or SCRUM certifications.
  • Ensure project/program objectives and goals are fully aligned with relevant account strategies.
  • Engage and utilize external/industry contractors as required to ensure successful delivery.

Leadership

  • Lead large, complex, and critical multi-geographical or functional teams.
  • Effectively lead large groups during crises and challenging situations, maintaining motivation and productivity.
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard top talent to continuously elevate team performance.

Communication

  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences.
  • Communicate and explain gaps or risks to senior stakeholders.
  • Introduce and maintain clear and efficient processes to drive high performance in project/program delivery.

Mentorship

  • Use good judgment and coaching skills to develop a project management approach to drive effective planning and optimize efficiencies of the project team.
  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work and leveraging resources.
  • Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team.
  • Provide mentorship to a wide range of skill sets and personality types, coaching and developing management-level resources.
  • Understand and address the full spectrum of professional development needs of a large and complex team.

Requirements

  • University Degree, preferably B.S. Degree in Engineering discipline or Business Degree. MBA, or other advanced management training would be an asset.
  • Proven experience in running large, complex, and critical multi-geographical or functional teams.
  • A proven track record of successfully implementing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies including 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager.
  • Experience overseeing multi-function project teams with members including Developers, Business Analysts, and QA Personnel.
  • Exceptional ability to lead and motivate teams during time constrained and challenging situations.
  • Understanding of software development life cycle models as well as knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  • Previous experience with budgeting, execution or program management processes.
  • Working knowledge of executing on Change Management initiatives and associated Best Practices.
  • Understanding of conceptual modeling, data requirements and data consolidation.
  • Experience with business architecture and business process management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated technical prowess including solving complex problems, programming skills (SQL, C++/C#, Java, VB and/or other computer programming languages), and familiarity/understanding of systems architecture.
  • Highly effective communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Additional Details

  • Travel: Ability to travel internationally 30-50%. Must have a valid passport.
  • Background Check: The successful candidate will need to successfully complete the following clearances: Criminal History Check, Education Verification, Employment Verification, Driver’s License Verification and passport/ID validation.
