Programme Manager – Application Migration & Virtualisation | Financial Services
My client, a leading organisation within Financial Services, is looking for an experienced Programme Manager – Application Migration & Virtualisation to lead a major enterprise-wide transformation programme.
📍 Location: Remote with occasional London travel
⏱️ Contract: 12 months
💷 Rate: £850 per day, Inside IR35
The Role
You will lead a complex, enterprise-wide application migration programme, managing multiple technical workstreams and overseeing the transition of a large application estate while ensuring minimal business disruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end application migration programmes from strategy and planning through to execution, cutover, hypercare and BAU transition
- Manage migration waves covering application discovery, dependency mapping, rationalisation, rehosting, replatforming and modernisation
- Drive datacentre exit and wider infrastructure transformation initiatives
- Establish and maintain strong programme governance, reporting and controls
- Lead cross-functional teams across Architecture, Infrastructure, Engineering, Security, Operations, PMO and Business functions
- Manage third-party suppliers, system integrators and technology partners
- Ensure successful delivery of business-critical migrations within complex enterprise environments
- Manage risks, dependencies, milestones and delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams

Experience Required
- Proven experience delivering large-scale application migration programmes, ideally across estates of 500–5,000+ applications
- Strong knowledge of virtualisation technologies including VMware/vSphere, NSX, vSAN, Citrix, Hyper-V and/or Nutanix
- Experience delivering cloud migration programmes across Azure, AWS, GCP and/or hybrid environments
- Strong background in infrastructure transformation and datacentre migration/exit programmes
- Experience with application modernisation and migration factory models
- Proven delivery experience across production cutovers, operational resilience and 24x7 environments
- Excellent senior stakeholder management skills within complex organisations
- Financial Services, Banking, Insurance or another regulated-sector background would be highly desirable
