About the Role
Uptime Institute has unparalleled expertise in helping organizations plan, build, operate and optimize world-class digital infrastructure. With over 3,000 projects completed globally to date, Uptime Institute has paved new ground in the exploration and implementation of programs that help organizations to advance the detection and mitigation of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) operational risk. In addition, our programs have a long history of identifying best practices for optimizing energy efficiency and other-resource consumption within resilient, reliable ICT infrastructure. That evidence base — three decades of standards, certifications, site assessments and outage root-cause data — is increasingly what the insurance market needs in order to price, underwrite and transfer digital infrastructure risk with confidence.
Uptime Institute is seeking a dynamic and experienced PROGRAMME MANAGER – RISK, RESILIENCY & CYBER to join our innovative team. Working alongside the Uptime Institute team, the global ICT community and participants across the insurance value chain, the successful candidate will own the design, development, launch and lifecycle management of a new portfolio of insurance products covering digital infrastructure risk resiliency and cyber risk — turning Uptime Institute’s standards, assessments and data assets into insurable, priceable propositions for underwriters, brokers, MGAs and reinsurers.
- Own the end-to-end development of new insurance products for digital infrastructure risk resiliency and cyber risk — from opportunity assessment and concept design through business case, product architecture, pricing structure, pilot and commercial launch.
- Translate Uptime Institute’s standards, certifications, assessments and outage data into product components that insurance market participants can underwrite against: risk scoring and ratings, pre-bind risk assessment, portfolio exposure analytics, post-loss review, and policy-linked remediation programs.
- Define and maintain the product roadmap, product taxonomy and release plan across the portfolio, balancing near-term revenue with the multi-year build of a defensible data and analytics asset.
- Act as product owner day to day — managing requirements and specifications, packaging and pricing, commercial terms, product P&L, and prioritization trade-offs with delivery, research, technology and marketing teams.
- Engage across the insurance ecosystem — underwriters, brokers, MGAs, reinsurers and capacity providers, Lloyd’s syndicates and market bodies, actuarial and exposure management functions, risk engineers and loss adjusters — to validate concepts, secure design partners and build distribution.
- Establish and run an insurance advisory board and a network of product development partners, keeping the portfolio aligned to underwriting appetite, regulatory change and evolving market requirements.
- Own go-to-market execution: positioning and messaging, channel and partner enablement, sales process, collateral, training of technical and commercial teams, product launch and ongoing marketing programs in partnership with relevant functional areas.
- Manage products through their full lifecycle after launch — tracking adoption, win rates, margin, claims and loss experience feedback, and client outcomes — and run a disciplined cycle of iteration, repricing, retirement and reinvestment.
- Work with carrier and broker partners to understand how digital infrastructure risk is currently priced, worded and reserved, and use those insights to shape both white-label and bespoke propositions for individual market participants.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Credentials and Experience
This is a senior, hands-on product role. The successful candidate will have built and taken new insurance or risk-transfer products to market, and will pair commercial product management discipline with enough technical fluency in digital infrastructure resiliency and cyber risk to hold credible conversations with underwriters, actuaries and data center operators. Deep specialist security engineering experience is not the requirement here; the ability to turn risk insight into an insurable, priceable and saleable product is.
- Prior experience in insurance product development, underwriting, broking, or program build-out, or insurtech is essential, together with a working understanding of how digital infrastructure (data center) risk is assessed, priced and transferred. Experience commercializing data or assessment assets into insurance propositions would be a strong advantage.
- Demonstrable track record of taking new insurance or risk products from concept to market — covering business case, rating and pricing structure, policy wording and product governance, distribution model, launch and post-launch management.
- Working knowledge of the insurance value chain and its economics — underwriting appetite and risk selection, rating and pricing, reinsurance and capacity, binders and delegated authority, claims and loss adjustment.
- Practical familiarity with digital infrastructure risk and resiliency concepts — availability and outage causation, concentration risk, and third-party and supply chain exposure across colocation, cloud, SaaS and MSP venues — with cyber understood as one component of a broader risk picture rather than the whole of it.
- Sufficient grounding in the standards and regulatory landscape that shapes insurable risk — including Uptime Institute Tier and Management & Operations criteria, ISO 27001, NIS-2 and DORA — to set product requirements and evidence standards, without needing to be a practising security specialist.
- Experience creating and maintaining product and service taxonomy, requirements documentation, and product governance artifacts.
- Experience building business cases and securing internal investment for new product development, with personal accountability for revenue, margin and adoption outcomes.
- Experience designing assessment and evidence frameworks that support pre-bind, in-force and post-loss decisions, including third-party assessment and periodic re-verification.
- Comfortable operating with actuarial, exposure management, compliance and legal stakeholders, and with regulators and market bodies where product approval or oversight applies.
- Insurance qualifications (ACII/CII or equivalent) are welcome. Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM or CISA are useful context but are not a requirement for this role.
