We’re a freethinking programmatic advertising trading business that innovates and provides a fresh perspective to the industry. With passion, flexibility and integrity, we provide highly effective digital media solutions for brands and agencies.

We plan and buy programmatic advertising space on behalf of clients such as The Scottish Government, Magners Cider, Tennent’s Lager, Skipton Building Society, Beaverbrooks and many others. We are a talented and fast-growing team, currently of 7 people based between Edinburgh and Manchester.

The Job:

We are looking for a Programmatic Manager to join our trading team in one of the fastest growing areas of The Freethinking Group. The right candidate is someone who substantial skills, expertise and experience in digital trading in order to independently and diligently manage all aspects of programmatic media activation, from planning and implementation, through to optimisation and problem resolution, to campaign reporting and insight delivery. You’ll be a pivotal member of the team with the opportunity to shape the future of Numodo’s trading operation and progress rapidly as programmatic plays an increasingly important role in the media mix to reach today’s highly connected consumer.

You will also have several direct reports, managing a pillar of traders within the wider trading team. You will be expected to oversee their daily duties, support their development and progression as well as act as a point of support/escalation. You will also be expected to interact directly with clients throughout the campaign lifecycle as well as contribute to new business initiatives.

You will report directly to the Head of Product and Head of Client Services, expected to support both in the continued development of Numodo’s offering, processes and results.

About you:

The Programmatic Manager will join a rapidly growing business, they will need to; put integrity above all else, be passionate about digital advertising, show fearlessness when testing new optimisation methodologies, be motivated by success, be intrigued by questions that require lateral thinking, have an entrepreneurial spirit, and enjoy working within a small team in an independent company.

The focus will be on activating and optimising standard/native display, in/outstream video including YouTube, digital audio, connected TV (BVOD/SVOD), in-game and DOOH, taking independent ownership of campaigns and ad hoc projects from start to finish. The candidate must therefore have a strong technical understanding of programmatic buying through major DSPs and extensive trading experience with several major platforms, such as DV360, Xandr, Amazon DSP, Hawk, The Trade Desk, etc. You will have high levels of responsibility for supporting junior team members, as well as the account base and work across a wide range of brands across both brand and performance campaigns. This will require a positive energy, strong interpersonal skills and being comfortable approaching unfamiliar problems.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of programmatic trading/planning experience across key DSPs; including but not limited to DV360, The Trade Desk, Amazon DSP, Hawk, Xandr
  • Both brand and performance campaign experience highly preferred
  • Thorough understanding of the full programmatic buying process, with knowledge and experience interacting with SSP providers, ad servers, third party brand safety suppliers, data brokers etc.
  • Familiarity with ad operations, including handling of creative tags (HTML/JAVASCRIPT), attribution pixels, third party measurement tracking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft excel and data analysis. Experience with building custom solutions using AI (Claude, CoPilot) is a large plus.
