The Role
The post holder will be responsible for delivering a professional administrative service within the Academic Administration Team, specific duties will be the line management of the team with all aspects of programme management for students and academic administration.
The post holder will organise and prioritise their work within an established operating environment, responsible to the Programmes Manager.
The post holder may be asked to deputise in the Programmes Manager’s absence.
Key Responsibilities
- To supervise and assist with management of the programme administrators to include workload distribution & management, performance management, staff development, induction, probation, staff appraisals.
- To provide a high standard of administrative support to Academic Colleagues with regard to programme administration.
- To manage the student specialism support operation, ensuring that student enquires are resolved in a timely and professional manner, and attending Faculty/University meetings as directed.
- Have an expert knowledge of University Regulations and Policies in relevant areas, ensuring this is maintained within the team, and attending and advising at Board of Studies and Assessment Boards, ensuring current regulations are adhered to.
- Maintain accurate student records, via the SurreyLearn virtual learning environment (VLE) and SITS systems and any other agreed supporting-systems, contributing to reports as directed.
- Contribute to improving processes and procedures as directed by the Programmes Manager, in particular to undertake small projects as directed.
- To support the department on complex regulatory issues such as academic misconduct, assessment, disciplinary and complaints.
- Support key student/Faculty events such as Welcome Week, Graduation, Invigilation and Open Days.
- As directed by the Programmes Manager, work in other areas within the Student and Academic Administration Department if necessary to meet the business needs.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in MS Office packages, and familiarity with databases,
- Good accuracy and attention to detail,
- Experience of the SITS system for student and programme administration,
- Customer care experience or training,
- Experience of the Higher Education sector and University activities.
