Key Responsibilities

Programme Delivery Assurance & Governance

  • Lead and coordinate assurance reviews across complex strategic transformation programmes and portfolios.
  • Evaluate programme performance against governance frameworks, delivery methodologies, and agreed success criteria.
  • Identify delivery risks, obstacles, performance gaps, and emerging issues before they impact programme outcomes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and support the creation of pragmatic recovery and improvement plans.
  • Monitor programme health indicators, delivery metrics, dependencies, and control effectiveness.
  • Provide independent challenge and assurance to programme leadership teams and governance forums.

Executive Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with programme sponsors, executive stakeholders, delivery leads, and portfolio governance functions.
  • Present assurance findings and recommendations to senior leadership teams and steering committees.
  • Facilitate discussions that drive consensus, accountability, and delivery improvement.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on delivery excellence, transformation governance, and organisational change.

Continuous Improvement & Transformation Excellence

  • Lead thematic reviews and enterprise-wide improvement initiatives focused on enhancing delivery capability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery frameworks, processes, governance controls, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Support the adoption of data-driven decision making, automation, and emerging technologies that improve programme performance.
  • Promote lessons learned, best practice adoption, and knowledge-sharing initiatives across transformation communities.

Risk, Audit & Compliance Alignment

  • Partner with Risk and Internal Audit functions to establish consistent assurance approaches and standards.
  • Support the assessment and management of transformation-related risks.
  • Ensure assurance activities align with organisational governance, regulatory expectations, and enterprise risk frameworks.
  • Contribute to audit readiness and evidence-based programme governance activities.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Programme Director, Transformation Director, Portfolio Director, or senior Programme Manager delivering complex strategic initiatives.
  • Significant experience undertaking programme assurance, delivery reviews, or transformation governance activities within large organisations.
  • Strong understanding of programme governance, portfolio management, risk management, and investment oversight.
  • Experience leading large-scale technology, business, and data transformation programmes.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and challenge senior stakeholders and executive leadership teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex findings into practical recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Experience working within Financial Services or other highly regulated sectors.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working alongside Risk, Audit, or Regulatory functions.
  • Familiarity with programme and portfolio management tooling such as Jira, Clarity, Asana, or equivalent platforms.
  • Knowledge of Product Management principles and operating models.
  • Experience implementing delivery excellence or transformation improvement initiatives at enterprise scale.
  • Relevant qualifications such as MSP, PgMP, PMP, PRINCE2, Agile certifications, or equivalent programme leadership credentials.
