Programme Delivery Lead

The Blakeney Group is looking for a Programme Delivery Lead to join us at a time of exciting growth. This is a senior delivery role, leading one of our largest and most complex client portfolios and helping ensure high-profile communications, crisis, public affairs and campaign work is delivered with pace, rigour and confidence.

This role is for an experienced programme manager who can bring order, momentum and commercial grip to numerous parallel workstreams across communications, crisis, public affairs and campaigns, keeping work on track, on budget and to the standard our clients expect.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working at pace, has an excellent eye for detail and takes real satisfaction in making complex programmes run smoothly. If you are interested in politics and public affairs, and enjoy working with ambitious clients to solve difficult problems, Blakeney could be the right place for you.

What we are looking for

You will need to be confident, sharp, creative and unflappable, with the calm authority to hold a programme together when there are lots of moving parts. We do not expect every candidate to meet every criterion, but the following experience and qualities would help someone succeed in the role:

  • Proven experience running large, multi-workstream client portfolios in a communications, public affairs, agency or consultancy setting
  • The ability to be the connective tissue across a programme — governance, timelines, budgets, dependencies and reporting — without losing sight of the strategic why
  • Confident managing senior stakeholders on both client and agency side, and comfortable holding people to deliverables at a senior level
  • Excellent judgement on prioritisation, sequencing and escalation — knowing what needs to move, what needs to wait, and what needs the client leader's attention
  • A strong writer, able to turn a complex programme into clear reporting, board-ready updates and internal briefings
  • Passionate about current affairs and comfortable operating in a politically and reputationally sensitive environment
  • A team player: great interpersonal skills, brings a sense of fun to their work, and lifts the quality of everyone around them
  • Great time management and the ability to hold multiple priorities without dropping any

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of a major client programme spanning communications, crisis, public affairs and campaigns
  • Lead the master programme plan, tracking milestones, dependencies and deliverables across multiple workstreams and delivery partners
  • Oversee the day-to-day budget across retainer, campaign and broader project spend — tracking commitments, forecasting, flagging risks early, and providing clear financial reporting into the Director and the client
  • Act as the day-to-day interlock between the client team, Blakeney's senior leaders and any external delivery partners, ensuring one version of the truth across the programme
  • Be the eyes and ears for the client leader — surfacing risks early, spotting where things are drifting, and driving decisions to close them out
  • Own the reporting cadence into client governance, including board-facing and shareholder-facing updates
  • Support senior colleagues in keeping accounts on track and within budget
  • Be a key part of the Blakeney team supporting marketing and business development, identifying new opportunities and supporting on pitches and proposals

About Blakeney

We are not an agency. We are an expert team of consultants that has worked for Prime Ministers and Secretaries of State, global media organisations, top-tier management consultancies, winning political campaigns, and FTSE 100 businesses. We build brands, shape policies, and fight for the people solving some of the world’s most complex problems. We do that using our market-leading expertise in media, government relations, communication strategy, and digital engagement.

Marketers and politicians have long understood that the best communications should change the way we think about the world. But corporate communications have lagged behind, often focusing on data at the expense of emotion, and short-term tactics at the expense of longer–term outcomes.

We started Blakeney to change that. Our approach aims to bring rigour, structure, insight, and emotional intelligence to the organisations and individuals who want to shift traditional narratives and drive the change today’s society needs.

Diversity & Inclusion at Blakeney

If you like the sound of Blakeney but this role isn’t quite right, we’d still love to hear from you. We’re always looking for great people from all walks of life. We’re committed to building a diverse workplace—not just to make Blakeney the best it can be, but to contribute to a more inclusive communications industry.
